Singer/Songwriter Callie Wilson is now known as “The Lie Within Callie”. At only 19 years old, The Lie Within Callie’s music reveals and transcends the hypocrisy in day to day life. Growing up an artist in Birmingham, AL, she didn’t consider herself a traditional southern belle, and always chose to think outside the box.
Callie inspires her fans from coast to coast to seek the truth in all things and love themselves. The Lie Within Callie’s debut EP “Book of Hypocrisy” is now available on iTunes. Be on the look out for several upcoming shows, as she sweeps audiences with her moving performances.
Read Callie’s personal message to her fans about her transition into The Lie Within Callie below:
"If you know me at all, you know I love people.
I probably love you.
I grew up in a harsh/cookie-cutter environment where,
if you don’t fit the mold precisely, you just aren’t valued.
So, of course, being the absolute people lover that I am,
I am guilty of shaping myself accordingly to people’s comfort zones.
I firmly believe you cannot manipulate nature.
Art is my natural form of expressing myself.
But, it just doesn’t work for me if it’s being conformed.
The lie within is the sacrifice in myself
that I used to make to accommodate to people...
This name change is a step towards becoming unapologetic. It’s a step towards independence. And not allowing anyone to mold me into who they want me to be anymore.
For the most part, my music revolves around the common theme of seeking the truth in things-
Be true to others, be true to yourself. (How hypocritical of me to say.) When I came up with The Lie Within Callie, it was like the ultimate bullseye shot at my inner demons telling me to hide away parts of me. The ultimate reveal of any untrue bone in my body- naming myself after them.
Wearing this name at every show, on every song.
I told my friends & family it’s like a “vulnerability exercise” or “vulnerability challenge”. I wanted the name to be a surprise because when I presented it to you, I wanted to feel completely vulnerable.
And in this terrifying/complete exposure, I’ve found a beautiful freedom."
